Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I’m writing to let you know that I’m running for re-election to the Paramus Board of Education this November. Over the past three years, we’ve made real progress together, but there is still so much more to do for our students, teachers, and community. I remain committed to working for every child in our district, and I know you share that same commitment as a member of our vibrant and engaged community.
Strong schools build strong communities. Our children deserve a solid foundation in academics like reading and math, along with the skills needed to thrive in an ever-changing world. Whether it’s through harnessing technology, developing critical thinking, or learning to collaborate, we need to prepare our students for whatever their future holds.
Just as important is ensuring that every student—whether they excel in the classroom, on the field, or in creative pursuits—has the opportunity to grow and succeed. To make that possible, we must provide them with an effective ratio of strong teachers and support personnel who can meet students where they are and help them reach the next level. We need to create opportunities to learn beyond the classroom—through field trips, hands-on experiences, and clubs where students can explore their interests with peers, build skills, and develop leadership.
Our students also need opportunities to challenge themselves physically and mentally, whether on the field, on stage, or in the studio. And we, as a community, must be there to celebrate, encourage, and support them every step of the way. Most importantly, these opportunities and support must be available to all of our students, not just some.
As a school board trustee, these principles have guided every decision I’ve made. I’ve also been committed to transparency and communication, because I believe that an engaged, informed community is the foundation for a thriving school district.
We’re facing significant challenges, especially with the eminent growth in our student population. Meeting these challenges requires thoughtful policies and long-term planning. From teacher shortages to aging infrastructure and evolving safety concerns, we need solutions that are balanced and sustainable. But we also have incredible opportunities—like new technology and an engaged community—that we can harness to support our students and improve our schools.
Real, impactful growth takes time, planning, and partnership. It’s not about quick fixes. It’s about having a clear vision, setting measurable goals, and adjusting our course when necessary to ensure the best outcomes for our students. I remain committed to the work it takes to continue to grow our district.
But I can’t do this alone—none of us can. It takes all of us, working together, to create lasting change for our students and our community. That’s why I’m asking for your partnership:
Three years ago, I was very honored when you elected me to the Paramus School Board. I hope I’ve earned your trust along the way, and I’m asking for your continued support.
Please let me know if I can count on you again— to be engaged and involved and for your vote. You can find me on the back page of your ballot in Column 3.
With gratitude and partnership,
Lisa
